Balancing the budget

Posted on 19. Mar, 2010 by Mike in Reform Ideas

1 Stop (foolish) spending (pork projects, pay raises for legislators, paid committee appointments from across the state by individuals)
#2 Forenisc Audit (what are we spending where, and why. If removed what would happen?)
#3 Create jobs. Jobs equal salaries. Salaries are taxed, which raised coffers.
#4 Tax relief (with more money in pockets, we spend more. Spending equals sales tax dollars, which not only help state, but local municipalities also)
#5 recognize that it is not your money but ours entrusted to our elected leaders to do wtih as public needs, not so that they can generate politlcal power.
#6 Stop passing on the debt from year to year. Budget is not balanced, everything shuts down until it is balanced. Too bad, but all officials take the blame, Rep or Dem.
#7 Start 2nd tier of state employee who are not pensioned but pay into Social Security and have IRA/401k type retirement funds. Pensions are killing
#8 Revamp the TRS. Teachers retirement system is not sustainable in pensions. see #7
